It is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Gulf of California to the east, and stretches south toward Baja California Sur. The main wine-producing valleys include\u00a0<strong>Valle de Guadalupe, Valle de Calafia, Santo Tom\u00e1s, San Vicente, and San Antonio de las Minas<\/strong>, with vineyards typically situated at altitudes up to 2,600 feet above sea level. The region benefits from Mediterranean-like microclimates, moderated by Pacific sea breezes and fog, which create ideal conditions for viticulture<\/p>\n<p>Wine production in Baja California dates back to the late 17th and early 18th centuries, when Spanish missionaries planted\u00a0<strong>Mission grapes (Listan Prieto)<\/strong> for sacramental wine.<\/p>\n<p>The region has a\u00a0<strong>semi-dry Mediterranean climate<\/strong>\u00a0with warm, dry summers and mild, humid winters. Coastal fog and ocean breezes help regulate temperatures, allowing grapes to develop thick skins and intense flavors.
